| Ceremonial Dress - Star Wars: A New Hope I had been planning another costume for Halloween, but about a week beforehand I still hadn't started on it, and realised by that point I would never get it done in time. So, I decided to put together a last minute ceremonial Leia costume, with a few alterations made, partially due to time constraints, and partially because of the events I was going to be doing in the costume (ie, outdoors and muddy!) |
| Construction Notes:
I used a pattern for the main part of the dress - which one, I don't remember now. I could NOT find a fabric I liked for it, I ended up using a satin, but with the wrong side facing out. Not the best choice, but it was all I could find on short notice! The sleeves were chiffon - I'm not happy with the way they meet in the chest area. I was also not happy with the way that area fit. I made the dress shorter than it should be due to the mud I was going to be walking in on Halloween night.
The shoes were heels I already had painted silver, and my belt was my regular Leia belt, which I know isn't right. The necklace was made of fun foam covered in silver foil. See my page on my version 2.0 for the completely remade dress! | ||||||
