| Basket Chase Outfit - Indiana Jones/Raiders of the Lost Ark
One of our local theaters does a summer movie series, playing classic old movies with some old 1930s/40s serials and a small concert from their ancient "Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ." They're a ton of fun to go to, with the audience cheering and hissing the villians and having a great time. We found out they were doing Raiders of the Lost Ark this year, and I got the thought in mind to put together a Marion costume. |
| Construction Notes:
At first, I was going to just use my Anna Valerious shirt and just put together a quick, make-shift version just to wear to the showing. I decided not to - and I'm sort-of glad I did, since no one else came in costume (unless you count wearing a fedora!) But after watching the movie there in the theater, I again caught the bug to make this costume, so I sat down and put it together the week afterwards! LOL.
The pants I bought on ebay and altered - also bought the shoes. The shirt I made out of of some leftover material I found in one of my bins - I used the same pattern I had originally used for the Anna blouse, I think. I just gathered the sleeves instead of leaving them as they were, and cut the neckline higher. The designs I put together in photoshop, printed, and heat-transferred on. I added the tassles and that was done. I ended up using my Powerpuff Girl waistband - not exactly accurate, but it worked for a quickie little costume. This was a lot of fun to wear, I actually wish I'd worn it longer at Dragoncon. I've got it for future use, though! :) |
