Mustafar Outfit - Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
I had no intent to do this costume, originally. I thought it was cute, but that's about it. However, early in 2006 while digging through my fabric bins I came across a good amount of tan suede, leftover from slave Leia. I thought it would work pretty well for this costume, and decided to wear with Chase's Darth Vader costume.

Construction Notes: I didn't aim for high-accuracy with this costume, so I didn't try to duplicate the seams on the original. I found a maternity top pattern and used that - I made it a bit longer, and a bit wider. It was pretty easy. I added the collar. The sleeves I made - they are a little baggy since this fabric has no stretch and otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get them on! I embroidered them with the naboo symbol - however, I did both sleeves, and I believe she only has it on one. Oh well.

I bought the pants and attempted to dye them a darker shade - something very weird happened in the dying process and it turned them a nasty flourescent yellow! I abandoned the idea, ordered another pair, and left them as they were. My boots I got on ebay, and my leather straps I cut from a large leather piece and dyed. It velcroes closed in the front. The "pregnancy pad" was a pillow I sewed straps onto. The pins I made out of sculpey, and were the most difficult part - I wore the original sculpey ones to Comic Con, but afterwards we cast them, and I wore the new resin ones to Dragoncon. If you're interested in a pair, I have a few extra, drop me a line if you're interested (see my contact page).
