Concept Wedding Dress - Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
I really loved some of the concept artwork for Padme's wedding dress - I thought it would be a fun thing to make for Dragoncon. I melded a few of my favourite elements from a couple of the sketches to make this - here is what I based the costume on.
Construction Notes: As with the Senate dress the year before, I ran into time constraints while making this. I had to nix the styled wig I wanted to do, along with some metalwork. I had to use the wig I bought, though unstyled. I made the tiara out of vinyl and fabric, and sewed it into the wig. The dress I made using a pattern, out of white satin. All of the chiffon - the sleeves, the pieces from the tiara, and the multiple trains, were dyed. The corset piece I made and sewed each of the individual ribbons on for the stripes. The "wing" sleeves I made out of wire and covered in fabric - they attach onto the corset at the back.

I painted the part on the center front - that was something I had wanted to do in wire originally, but didn't have time. Same with the necklace, I wanted to make it out of metal, but had to make it out of vinyl covered in fabric. The fan on the front I made by buying a fan at our hobby store, taking the fabric off and replacing it with my own fabric. My only regret is I wish I could have spent more time on it and done it better.
