| Construction Notes:
Right away I knew that #1, I did not want to paint my whole body, and #2, I didn't want to tape the costume down my chest like my Urd and Hild costumes previously.
So I started the whole thing by buying Xtreme Designs FX's female body armor. We removed the arm pieces (they wouldn't fit under my suit), and thinned down the edges, and my orange makeup worked fine on it. It gave me the much needed superheroine physique I did not have and kept me from having to tape stuff to myself - plus I didn't have to worry about flashing anyone, LOL. Unfortunately right before we left for the parade my strap holding the sides of it in place popped, and there was no way to fix it - so I'll have to go back and repair that before next wearing.
For the suit, I bought a white bodysuit and dyed it orange. My husband did some airbrushing on it, and I cut away the front. For the purple part of the suit, I was originally going to use some plain purple spandex I had laying around, but decided buy the metallic kind instead. I used a swimsuit pattern and used the original purple fabric to make a mockup, then used the mockup as a pattern for the real one. It and the orange suit were then sewn together.
Chase made my collar and gauntlets by make forms of my arms, and a basic form of my neck, and fiberglassing them. For the boots, I bought a pair of thigh-high boots and simply made boot covers for them in my purple material. They're sewn in place, and they're also sewn onto the bodysuit to keep them up (though, I popped one at Dragoncon and had to pin it on... LOL). The "eggs" are various pieces bought from Hobby Lobby, glued on.
Lastly the wig was so much fun to make. It's made of two different wigs I cut up, curled, and tease the heck out of, plus two packs of extensions. I'm quite pleased with it!
The only major changes I want to make are repairing the strap on the chest armor piece, and redying the bodysuit a slightly darker shade. It looked ok in most light but in some brighter lights (and strong flashes), it looked washed out.
