Teela & Orko - He-Man/Masters of the Universe
When I was making She-Ra the year before, I thought at the time it would be cool to do Teela, too.

Construction Notes: I bought the wig first - it's a Peg Bundy wig, I just cut the length off. I should have tucked the bangs in, too, but I never did. The tiara I made of vinyl covered in the copper-coloured fabric, with a jewel glued on the top. It bobbie-pins into the wig. I bought a leotard and cut it apart - cut the sleeves off, and reused them to make the rolls around the top of the legs, and for the lower white armbands. The boots I had - I found the fur when I was on vacation, and I just tuck it into the top of the boots. The hardest part was the top - I made it without a pattern and just kept working with it until I had what I wanted. It has a hook and eye closure. The "snake" parts on the chest I made seperately and sewed on. After Dragoncon I went back and drew darker lines around each section of the snakes, so they would show up better.

Orko! I love my Orko! I made him out of various things. I started off with a small poseable teddy bear from the Hobby store. I used a bouncy ball for the head, and made a wireform for the arms (since the bear's arms weren't long enough). I used batting to give him some more body, and used paper mache for his fingers. I made the little outfit and hat out of leftover material, and his eyes were foam. I really love how he turned out!

The thing that made this costume for me was Orko. People loved seeing Orko! He was very heavy when I had him "floating" on my arm though, so most of the time I just carried him around. I'd like to wear this again one day.
